Appleby Horse Fair is one of the largest and most significant traditional gatherings of Gypsy and Traveller communities in Europe. Held annually in the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, its origins date back centuries, with the fair historically linked to horse trading, seasonal travel, and the social networks of travelling families. Over time, it has become not only a marketplace, but also an important cultural and social event where communities renew connections, celebrate traditions, and maintain a shared identity.
