Ardwick and Longsight are two vibrant and culturally diverse inner-city districts located just south of Manchester city centre. Running along the busy A6 Stockport Road corridor, they have long served as important residential, educational, and commercial hubs, shaped by successive waves of migration that have contributed to one of the most diverse communities in the North of England. Mosques, churches, independent businesses, markets, schools, and community organisations sit alongside Victorian terraces and more recent housing developments, creating neighbourhoods rich in cultural identity and everyday activity.
