Grasmere Sports, is one of the oldest and most popular traditional gatherings in the English Lake District. Held annually in the village of Grasmere for more than 170 years, the event celebrates the sporting traditions, rural culture, and community spirit of the region against the dramatic backdrop of the surrounding fells. At the heart of the sports is the historic tradition of Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling, where competitors - many dressed in traditional embroidered trunks while others wear more modern sporting attire - compete in bouts that combine strength, balance, and technique.
