Humber Bridge

Harrogate has long occupied a distinctive place within the North of England. Unlike many northern towns whose fortunes were built upon coal, steel, or textiles, Harrogate developed during the 18th and 19th centuries as a fashionable spa resort, attracting royalty, politicians, writers, and wealthy visitors drawn by its mineral springs and elegant surroundings. Grand hotels, landscaped gardens, and broad tree-lined streets gave the town an air of prosperity that remains evident today.
