Hartlepool

13 July 2025 & 22 June 2026

Humber Bridge

Hartlepool is a town whose history has been shaped by the sea, shipbuilding, and industry. Originating as a medieval port centred on the Headland - known as ‘Old Hartlepool’ - it expanded dramatically during the 19th century as the Industrial Revolution transformed the Tees estuary into one of Britain’s most important centres of maritime commerce and heavy engineering. Shipyards, docks, steelworks, and engineering firms provided employment for generations, while the port connected the North East to markets around the world.
