Humber Bridge

Scarborough has long been shaped by the sea. Originating as a medieval fishing and trading settlement beneath the dramatic headland crowned by Scarborough Castle, the town later became one of Britain’s earliest and most fashionable seaside resorts during the 18th and 19th centuries. Its harbour, beaches, promenades, and grand hotels attracted generations of visitors, while the fishing industry remained central to local identity and employment.
